I recently purchased "The Beloved Disciple" member book by Beth Moorre. I am really looking forward to doing this study since the Gospel of John is perhaps my favorite book of the Bible.  I also purchased  "Bible Study Methods" by Rick Warren (the author of "Purpose Driven Life) to aid in my study of the Bible. I really need all of the help I can get.

I have decided to make Sunday evenings my time for intense Bible study.  Through the week, I sometimes do not get home from work until after six or close to seven pm. Saturday is usually running around or cleaning up. I need time where I can study and not be interupted. I also plan to start back to read a chapter a day in my Bible.

Finding My Christian Sweet Spot

I have just begun reading a new book by Max Lucado entitled "Cure For The Common Life." Although I am just in the first chapter, it has really started me to thinking about what is my gift for serving. What is my "Sweet Spot" for the Lord? According to Mr. Lucado everyone has one. He also states that God endow us with gifts to make Him known. What has He set aside for me to do to serve Him? I know He has a place of service for me. Why else would He bring me through a near stroke and two bouts of breast cancer.

Friday Evening

Posted in GENERAL at 5:33 p04 by rosebearry

Well, it is Friday evening and another work week is ending. Things have been pretty busy at work. My daughter will be visiting for the weekend.  She wants to go to Walmart and Cato's and then out to eat. So we will have a busy Saturday. Sunday we will be going to church. Our revival starts Monday Night for three nights. I can't hardly wait.  I also spent a lot of time reflecting on the loving grace and mercy of our Heavenly Father. It it great to know that you have a Father that loves you inspite of all of your weaknesses and faults.

Just wanted to write you a quick little note to tell you hi and how much I love you. I am so thankful that you loved me so much that you were willing to die a horrible death on Calvary for the sins you knew I would commit.  You are my Best Friend.  I know when my soul cries out to you, you will never be to busy to answer.  My precious Jesus, my heart is bursting with joy to know that I have a Perfect Savior who loves some one as imperfect as me.

With all my heart and love,

Beautiful Day

Posted in REFLECTIONS at 5:33 p04 by rosebearry

Around 3:45 pm today I walked to the drug store about a block from where I work.  It is so beautiful outside.  So many of my fellow workers were walking and jogging, laughing and talking. It made me wished I had been out earlier.  The sun was shining but there was a little breeze so that it was not overly hot. The temperature was just right.

As I walked back to work, I took time to thank the Lord for such a day as this. Even though, the rain must come, I know the Lord will have a day just like this to chase the rain away.

Leah and Rachel

Posted in WEDNESDAY WONDERS at 5:33 p04 by rosebearry

Due April 5th

Read Genesis 29:14b-30:24
Genesis 35:16-18

It was customary for the oldest daughter to marry first. Laban knew that Jacob would not be willing to marry Leah because of his great love for Rachel.
So, after much partying all night, where Jacob probably got a little tipsy, Laban sent Leah into Jacob's tent, and he did not realize the dirty trick played on him until morning. A very fitting trick for someone who had stolen his older brothers birthright (Read Gen. 27:1-28:9).

Now let us look at the dynamic of the sisters relationship. Women at that time lived to have children. Their children were their pride and joy. Much of their self-worth came from the amount of children they bore to their husband. God had compassion on Leah who was not loved by her husband.

Under three things the earth trembles,
under four it cannot bear up:
a servant who becomes king,
a fool who is full of food,
an unloved woman who is married,
and a maidservant who displaces her mistress.
Proverbs 30:21-23

  • What was the attitude of the sisters as they had their children? What was the difference between the two?
  • Who relied on God more? Who gave praise to God for her blessings?
  • LEAH SEEMED TO THINK THAT THE MORE CHILDREN SHE HAD WOULD MAKE JACOB LOVE HER.
  •  RACHEL WAS JEALOUS OF LEAH BECAUSE SHE DID NOT HAVE ANY CHILDREN.  SHE HAD A MAID TO SLEEP WITH JACOB SO THAT SHE COULD HAVE CHILDREN TOO.
  • SEEING THIS LEAH HAD HERE MAID TO SLEEP WITH JACOB.

GOD ALSO OPENED RACHEL'S WOUND AND SHE GAVE BIRTH TO JOSEPH AND BENJAMIN, BUT DIED IN CHILDBIRTH WITH BENJAMIN.

JACOB CLEARLY LOVED LOVED RACHEL MORE THAN HE DID LEAH, AND UNFORTUNATELY CAUSED PROBLEMS

IT SEEMED  LEAH AND RACHEL WERE TRYING TO OUT DO EACH OTHER IN HAVING CHILDREN.  LEAH THINKING THAT MAY BE JACOB WOULD LOVE IF SHE GAVE HIM CHILDREN AND RACHEL, PERHAPS THINKING, HE WOULD STILL LOVE HER THE BEST IF SHE GAVE HIM CHILDREN

LEAH SEEMED TO RELY ON GOD AND GIVE  MORE PRAISE THAN RACHEL

  • When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, "Give me children or I'll die!" Gen. 30:1
Yet, even after God gave Rachel what she wanted she was unsatisfied ~ Genesis 30:22-24.Rachel lived a very bitter life and in the end she died in childbirth having the children that she so desperately wanted.Excercise in gratitude and praise
    Be joyful always;
    pray continually;
    give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:16-18
  • Name three (3) things in your life that you are thankful for. Now, through prayer, give praise to God.
  • 1. FAMILY

    2. HEALTH

    3. JOB
